Synopsis: This is everything we’ve been building towards – The death of Cordelia Moonstone. But when she goes there is no-one to protect the world from the forces of darkness who want to consume us.

The Story

Having narrowly escaped death in the last issue, thanks to some timely intervention from her future self, Cordelia now faces Samuel Mott, a formidable villain empowered by the Dark Lords. Having once dabbled in black magic, Cordelia must now pay the price: her light magic is useless against Mott’s corrupted power.

Thankfully, she’s not facing this threat alone. Her new ally and future husband, Clyde, stands by her side, commanding three dark demons capable of taking the fight to Mott. Joining the fray is her father, Leonard Moonstone, who breaks the sacred accords with the Abbington Hotel to time travel and summon every Moonstone from the past thousand years to aid in the final battle.

Artwork

Matteo Buffagni and Giovanna Niro do a fantastic job with the artwork in this finale. The magical battle between Cordelia Moonstone and Samuel Mott is brilliantly realised, with dynamic visuals that capture the intensity of the showdown. One standout moment is when Clyde unleashes his demons on Mott, adding to the chaos and spectacle. Equally powerful is the arrival of the many allies Leonard Moonstone brings with him from the past thousand years — a visual feast that really drives home the scale of the conflict.

Overall

This final issue wraps everything up really nicely and delivers something close to a happy ending. I particularly enjoyed seeing Cordelia read her own eulogy — a moment that was both poignant and darkly humorous. The final glimpse of Moonstone Castle was also a satisfying way to close the saga. If a movie or TV adaptation of this series ever happens, I’ll be first in line to watch it. I just can’t help but wonder who would end up playing Cordelia.

I could see Alexandra Daddario, Charlotte Ritchie and Jenna Ortega all being great as Cordelia Moonstone.
