In Review: The Flash – The Death of Vibe

Synopsis: After Cicada’s attack on The Flash, the team realizes they need to think outside the box to stop this dangerous new foe. Desperate to help her parents, Nora comes up with a plan that ultimately puts a member of Team Flash in danger. Meanwhile, Caitlin delves into her past.

Review: Team Flash find that solving the riddle of who Cicada is to be far from elementary. So they bring in the worlds best-consulting detective. One Harrison Sherloque Wells.

The Story

This episode opens up with a brief flashback with some narration from Nora who is telling the team about Cicada and why back then he frightened her. She adds that he was the one villain that Flash never caught, which makes him the Jack The Ripper of Meta-Humans.

Knowing that they are out of the depth and need a little added pep to the brain trust. The team looks towards bringing in one of the many alternate Harrison Wells into the fray. Their first port of call is Her Wells, who is otherwise engaged, but he puts them onto a Sherloque Wells who quickly takes the bull by the horns by seemingly solving the case, but not for long.

Due to the fact that Nora changed the timeline by wanting to be with her father. It also changed the identity of Cicada who has his sights firmly set on Vibe and is more than happy to torture Joe West in order to get to him.

Elsewhere, Ralph and Caitlin get a little closer to solving the mystery of her disappearing father.

The Acting

This episode got a little extra lift with the reintroduction of Tom Cavanagh who brings us a brand new incarnation of Wells to both help and annoy the team in equal measure. Sherloque Wells is lots of fun. Though the French accent is pure comedy in the vein of characters such as Inspector Clouseau.

I continue to enjoy the relationship, which is forming between Ralph and Caitlin as they work together to solve the mystery of her father. This has allowed Hartley Sawyer to show us a more sensitive side to Ralph as he supports his friend through a difficult time.

CGI

We get some solid moments this episode as we see Flash and Vibe take another ass whooping from Cicada, but we also see Nora figure out a way to hurt the mystery Meta, which in and of itself looks fairly suspicious. Something, which I think a certain Sherloque Wells may have twigged on.

The sequence in which they take on Cicada is pretty good stuff and we also get a pretty nice explosion in the first half of the episode.

I also liked the effect used to show us Cicada’s wound at the end of the episode when we see the man behind the mask visiting his sick daughter in the hospital. But what does he have against other Meta-Humans?

Overall

A solid episode of ‘The Flash’, which provides us with more questions to ponder.
