After Barry makes a big decision about their family without consulting her, Iris decides to take matters into her own hands.
Review: Things decidedly icy in this weeks episode.
The Story
Having taken Nora back to her own time period without telling Iris. Barry and his wife have a huge argument, which sees Iris traveling forward in time to try and speak to Nora and reunite the family. Unfortunately, Iris is a little too late given that Nora has managed to tap into the reverse speed force with some help from Thawne. As she sees Nora speed off in a fit of absolute rage Iris is told by an imprisoned Thawne that the only way for her and Barry to get Nora back is for them to be a united family.
Elsewhere, Barry has gotten distracted with the fact that Icicle has returned and he has kidnapped Caitlin and her mother and plans to create his own ice family by making Carla like him. With a little help from Sherloque and Joe. Barry manages to save the day, but a last-minute attack from Cicada creates all manner of complications.
The Acting
We get some really good mother and daughter scenes thanks to some great acting from Danielle Panabaker and Susan Walters who have some fun scenes together.
Overall
A really strong episode with a few fun twist and turns. One of which is kind of telegraphed at the end when it comes to Caitlin’s mother. But that said the surprise attack by Cicada works as a genuine surprise in the episode given that so much focus was on the various families in the episode.
We get some wonderful visual effects shots and the battle between Killer Frost and Icicle is well worth the price of admission.
Given that Cicada has managed to kidnap Grace. We are all wondering how things will play out once she manages to revive her younger self from the coma.
