Synopsis: Barry faces off with his oldest, and most formidable nemesis, Reverse Flash.
Review: The season wraps with a bittersweet twist as the team face some consequences for all their meddling with time.
The Story
Following immediately on from last weeks events. Ralph has figured out that destroying Cicada 2’s dagger will free Reverse Flash who is scheduled to be executed in the future. In order to stop this from happening Ralph uses his stretch powers in order to take the full brunt of the blast from the mirror gun. Which in turn forces the team to try and come up with another way of stopping Cicada 2.
Ultimately. Stopping Cicada winds up meaning that they have to use the mirror gun due to the fact that the meta cure will not work on her due to fragments of the dark matter, which created the dagger being a part of her two.
With Cicada 2 now out of the way. The team must travel to the future in order to try and prevent Reverse Flash from getting away. A task that ends in tragedy for Barry and Iris.
The Acting
Tom Cavanagh once again steals the show with great performances as both Sherloque Wells and Eobard Thawne AKA Reverse Flash. Also really good this week is Jessica Parker Kennedy who departs the series with a really touching performance as Nora says goodbye to her parents forever.
Overall
This was a fairly decent way to wrap the season up with the Cicada storyline resolved in such a way that it releases one of the shows best ever villains. The episode title ‘Legacy’ proves really appropriate in that Nora gets to leave her mark on the series and on her mother and father who will likely never forget her.
The episode also sees some pretty big changes that will make for interesting viewing in the next series. A big one being that Cisco has taken the Meta Cure, which means that we will not see anything more of Vibe, which is a real shame given that he has become so much a part of the show and been an asset to the team on many occasions. But it does make sense given that he was sort of benched for much of this series.
We also see a big change for Joe West. Who is now the Captain of the Police force, which will make for a different dynamic when the series returns.
Overall. A satisfying if a somewhat sappy end to the season, but with a massive twist, which will likely tie into next years ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ storyline.
