Synopsis: Love is in the air in this week’s episode as Lex turns up professing his love for Nyxly. Supergirl and her team must deal with the emotional fallout of facing their two biggest foes at the same time. Alex makes plans for the perfect proposal to Kelly, but work keeps getting in the way.
The Story
Picking up from where last week left off. Nyxly has somehow manifested the return of Lex Luther and it seems that he is smitten with her. Of course, Nyxly isn’t impressed and sees Lex as an arrogant man. This only spurs Lex on as he attempts to help her obtain the Love Token.
Knowing a little more about how the tokens work. Supergirl along with Lana and her team set about luring Nyxly into the open by tricking her into thinking that they have found the love token. After one failed attempt to send Nyxly back from where she came, the team now has to try and beat her to the Token. But now they also have to deal with Lex, which means double the trouble.
The Acting
Jon Cryer makes a fantastic return as Lex Luther who professes his love for Nyxly. The scene toward the end of the episode where he tells Nyxly that she is the only person he has truly fallen for before was well delivered. I particularly liked how it was Lex that reveals that the essence of the tokens moves on when a token is destroyed. Indeed, it is a fun plot twist that provides a fun ending for this episode.
Peta Sergeant once again nails it as Nyxly and the dynamic between Nyxly and Lex Luther is only going to make things more interesting as this series builds to its eventual conclusion.
Overall
A pretty solid episode, which has some fairly good visuals as Nyxly now has to deal with the combined forces of Supergirl’s team and Lana Luther’s magic. Introducing Lana’s latent magic has been one of the more interesting plot developments for this season. And it makes sense to given that they are fighting a magical being.
The episode closes out with Alex and Kelly’s engagement party, which adds a few layers of cheese to the plot.
