Synopsis: In Chapter Five of Summer School. Pat and Courtney clash over the next steps in their search for Eclipso, ominous weather conditions in Blue Valley hint that he may be near.

The Story

Courtney returns home from a late-night patrol and is past curfew. She finds a rather frustrated Pat waiting for her. After they hash it out. Pat tells Courtney that the best way to track Eclipso is through the weather. So the team begins to monitor the town’s weather patterns in the hopes that it will lead them to Eclipso.

Meanwhile, Eclipso has gotten his hooks into the school’s art teacher who really should be bumped off for having such awful taste in shirts.

Back at the Injustice Society Headquarters. Cindy Burman and her team are looking to recruit Mike Duggan, and it doesn’t look like it will be all that difficult for them to do so.

The Acting

Brec Bassinger continues to do a pretty good job in her role of Courtney and the scenes she has with Pat (Luke Wilson) are pretty integral. Especially when it comes to highlighting Courtney’s impetuous nature. We also get a pretty decent performance from Cameron Gellman as Rick Tayler aka Hourman. I quite enjoyed the scene where he was backing up Beth when she was talking about having heard Doctor Midnight through her goggles.

Overall

This was another fun episode. However, it took a little while to get going as it had to deal with Courtney staying out past curfew. As well as  Cameron Mahkent’s attraction to Courtney, which sort of tied in well with Eclipso’s latching onto Cameron’s art teacher. Serves him right for wearing terrible shirts. But I guess he’d been waiting five weeks to show it off.

Nevertheless. The art teacher in the bright shirt was the perfect plot device to get Courtney and her team to face off against Eclipso and we were treated to quite the fight. It made a wrestling smackdown look positively sedate.

Overall. This episode featured a slow wind-up to quite a big test for Courtney and the team. In addition to that is the ominous reveal that Eclipso’s power is increasing. So, much like last week’s show. We got some revelations, but nothing concrete as yet as the writers are slowly teasing the season out.
