Yoda

Synopsis: MASTER AND APPRENTICE! The SEPARATISTS army has a new super-weapon: THE MEGADROID. But can YODA and ANAKIN SKYWALKER destroy an entire factory full of them?

The Story

Having learned that the separatists have been building an army of megadriods in the last issue. Yoda and an overconfident Anakin Skywalker head for Golatha in order to find the production plant and take it out. Thinking that their superior numbers will make the mission an easy one. Yoda and Anakin are surprised when they see their entire detachment of Clone Troopers wiped out.

Artwork

Alessandro Miracolo continues from where he left off as he gets to draw a fair bit of action. The panel where we see Anakin and Yoda’s entire detachment of Clone Troopers killed is a great bit of foreshadowing for what is to come. Miracolo does a fantastic job of capturing the scale of the production plant that makes the Magadroid. But it’s the final panel of the book that really sets things up for what will likely be a fantastic battle in which both Anakin and Yoda will be tested.

Overall

Marc Guggenheim provides us with a fun Star Wars story about the Megadroid and how much of a threat that it poses. The writer provides us with a few fun exchanges between Yoda and Anakin. I loved how Anakin was doing his impersonation of Yoda and getting called out on it as we never really got too many scenes between Yoda and Anakin in the movies, which is why it is fun that it is getting explored now.

Of course, Anakin’s overconfidence has always been a feature of his character in the films and TV shows. But this book is one of the rare occasions where we see it come back to bite him on the butt.

Overall. I can’t wait to see how all of this is going to play out.
