Synopsis: “THE HEIRESS”! THE MANDALORIAN braves the high seas and meets unexpected allies. Introducing BO-KATAN KRYZE, KOSKA REEVES and AXE WOVES!
The Story
This adapts the third episode of the second season in which Din Djarin drops the Frog Lady on the planet Trask and sets about trying to find Bo-Katan and her team of Mandalorians who are attacking the remnants of The Empire in their quest to find The Dark Saber. When Din Djarin meets Bo-Katan he winds up helping her, Koska Reeves and Axe Woves take down an Imperial Ship in order to interrogate the command crew about the whereabouts of Moff Gideon. In exchange for Din Djarin’s help. Bo-Katan gives him the location of Ahsoka Tano.
The Artwork
Georges Jeanty and the art team continue to do a solid job with the artwork and get to adapt some of the more memorable scenes from this huge episode that led up to Din Djarin’s first meeting with some other Mandalorians. I really enjoyed the panels where the Mon Kalamari tries to drown Din Djarin so they can steal his armor. Another series of panels that works well is the crash landing of Razerquest on Trask. As well as the sequence where a rather water-logged Razerquest leaves Trask and we see Grogu the child giggle at the fact that Din Djarin’s ship has adopted some of Trask’s sea life.
Overall
Rodney Barnes continues to do a solid job of adapting the second season to comics. The Heiress is definitely one of the more memorable episodes from the second season of The Mandalorian as it introduced us to Bo-Katan who up until that point had only been seen in the Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels animated shows. I think the writer and artist of this comic do a solid job of adapting this key episode to The Mandalorian TV series.
