In Review: Star Wars: Jedi Knights (2025-) #5 – JEDI MASTERS SEERA LONGA AND YADDLE FACE THE DARKEST MYSTERY!

Synopsis: JEDI MASTERS SEERA LONGA AND YADDLE FACE THE DARKEST MYSTERY! Yaddle and Seera must unravel a strange situation involving the Trade Federation. Guest-starring the mysterious Count Dooku! Will Yaddle save the life of the man destined to kill her?

The Story

Set a few years before the Battle of Naboo, this story follows Jedi Masters Yaddle and Seera Longa as they’re dispatched to mediate a trade dispute between the greedy Trade Federation and the enigmatic Gilanter Corporation.

Gilanter claims the Trade Federation has stolen one of their ships, while the Federation accuses Gilanter of breaching their contract. From the outset, Yaddle and Longa suspect that both sides are being less than honest. Their investigation soon uncovers a deeper conspiracy: the Gilanter Corporation is merely a front for an illegal spice operation.

Things take a darker turn when the Jedi discover that Count Dooku is secretly aligned with the Trade Federation — and pursuing an agenda of his own.

Artwork

Madibek Musabekov delivers solid artwork throughout the book. One standout sequence shows Dooku held prisoner by the criminal gang behind the Gilanter Corporation. The panels do a great job illustrating just how far the gang is willing to go to get their way.

A particularly fun moment comes when Dooku, ever the theatrical nobleman, asks to die with a lightsaber in his hands — a request that’s both dramatic and revealing of his character.

Overall

Overall, this is a great issue that gives us a deeper look at Jedi Master Yaddle — a character who only briefly appeared in one of the Star Wars prequel films and belongs to the same mysterious species as Yoda. Yaddle’s exchanges with Seera Longa are a lot of fun, especially the teasing early in the story when Yaddle jokes about Seera’s enthusiasm for mediating a trade dispute.

All in all, this is an entertaining read with strong character work and a welcome guest appearance from Count Dooku.
