Synopsis: Panic At The Accretion Disco! The bounty hunters are locked in a desperate attempt to escape the pull of a black hole! To make matters worse, the Pykes are out to kill them first! Meanwhile, what will Valance have to sacrifice to serve the Empire?

The Story

Picking up from the last issue. The gang has taken on a job to protect a mid-level Pyke crime boss from an assassination attempt. However, things have gone horribly wrong due to the fact that Tasu Leech killed the crime boss due to the fact that he could not take any more of his insults. And if that isn’t enough. All the Pykes on board the station, which is in the orbit of a black hole are out to kill all the bounty hunters who are having to defend themselves amid the chaos and panic of the Accretion Disco.

Elsewhere, Valance and his squad are given a new job by Lord Vader. It’s a job that will lead them into direct conflict with T’onga and her bounty hunters.

The Artwork

Giuseppe Camuncoli pulls off some great visuals in this issue. I particularly loved the sequence of panels where Valance and his team have an audience with Darth Vader. Of course, Valance is not particularly impressed. Yeah, sure Valance may be working for the Empire now. But it doesn’t mean he has to like it.  There’s a brilliant panel at the close of this sequence where Vader is looking at valance and we see Valance reflected in Vaders eyes. This really brings home the fact that Valance is on a really short leash.

Overall

Panic At The Accretion Disco! was a fun issue with lots of great action. But it also does a great job of setting up a new storyline in which T’onga, Losha and their fellow Bounty Hunters are going to go up against Valance as they accept a job that will pit them off against him. So there is much to look forward to in the next issue.
