The Story
Having been captured by Darth Vader toward the end of War Of The Bounty Hunters. Valance finds himself fully rebuilt, but with a body that looks more human. But the upgrade comes with a price. Vader gives Valance an ultimatum. Work for the Empire or watch as the empire kills everyone that he has ever loved.
Meanwhile, believing Valance to be dead. T’onga and her wife Losha have formed an elite team of Bounty Hunters, which includes Bossk, Zuckus and Tasu Leech. When a group of robbers attempts to rob the bar where they are having a few drinks. The new band of Bounty Hunters gets to blow off a little steam.
The Artwork
Ramón F. Bachs gets to have a fair bit of fun with this issue as he gets to draw Darth Vader as well as some of the Star Wars universe’s most loved Bounty Hunters. The panels in which Vader is pressuring Valance into working for him are pretty intense. Especially the panels in which Valance tries to fight Vader and finds himself cut in half. The action is fast and visceral.
I also enjoyed the bar fight as the Bounty Hunters take down a group of robbers and pretty much wreck the joint.
Overall
A really good start for a new story arc, which manages to connect Darth Vader, Valance, and The Crimson Dawn. I can’t wait to read more. Especially when it comes to Valance’s story.
