Synopsis: This month on ‘War of The Bounty Hunters’. “THE FOLLOWING” Hunted by the mysterious assassin DEATHSTICK, a wounded VALANCE and his reluctant partner DENGAR are running out of options! T’ONGA is outgunned and outnumbered… but she does have one last surprise up her sleeve! And the shadowy force behind all of the danger makes its move!

The Story

Having been attacked by the Crimson Dawn assassin known as Death Stick. A wounded Valance and his partner Denger go to an old contact to get their ship repaired. Denger asks Mamma Stammoch to do repairs.  However, Stammoch is quick to remind Denger that he still owes for previous jobs. As they talk her through what happened to them. Stammoch is horrified when she sees a hologram of Valance’s attacker at which point she gives them a quick history of the Crimson Dawn.

Back on The Sanctuary of the Mourners Wail. T’ONGA and her wife have successfully seen off the Crimson Dawn. At least for now.

Artwork

Paolo Villanelli continues to rock it with the artwork. The settings contained within this book feel very much like something you’d see in a Star Wars movie or an episode of The Mandalorian. Indeed, the panels where we see Mamma Stammoch’s repair crews working in the background feel very alive. I particularly enjoyed the series of panels that showed us the history of the Crimson Dawn when Stammoch was recapping events.

Overall

Ethan Sacks continues to enthrall with a story that is rich in Star Wars mythology. I’m really enjoying how he is using the Crimson Dawn as the syndicate to end all crime syndicates. It goes to show how good Solo: A Star Wars Story was as a film. Given that elements of it are being used in the comics. And it ties in perfectly with the hunt for Han Solo and Boba Fett.

As many fans have speculated. Lady Qi’ra has returned and she is not the ambiguous character that we met in the movie. She is now a full-on crime boss.

To sum up ‘War of The Bounty Hunters’ is rich with Star Wars history.
