Synopsis: THE FINAL CONFRONTATION! As the fate of the FENRIL SECTOR – and THE GALAXY! – hangs in the balance, LUKE SKYWALKER, HAN SOLO, RYNN ZENAT and the NAGAI must face off REYNA OSKURE and her twisted followers! Will Oskure’s deadly powers destroy one of the heroes forever? THE NEW REPUBLIC forces stand on the brink of war – will the brief peace be lost forever?
The Story
Picking up where the previous issue left off, the conflict between the Nagai and Reyna Oskure has reached a boiling point. As the New Republic engages Oskure’s forces in a fierce space battle above the Nagai homeworld, the fighting on the surface grows increasingly desperate.
On the ground, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo find themselves badly outnumbered as they attempt to track down Oskure and bring her plans to an end. With them is a gravely weakened Rynn Zenat, still suffering from whatever power Oskure stole from her in their last encounter. Despite her condition, Rynn refuses to stand aside, determined to see this through.
Reinforcements arrive in the form of Princess Leia, who answers a call from the Fenril Government seeking to realign with the New Republic. Freed from diplomatic obligations, Leia makes the journey to the Nagai homeworld to support the fight, shifting the balance at a critical moment.
In the final confrontation, Rynn makes a crucial discovery: the power Oskure took from her was not destroyed, merely transferred. Realising that what was taken can also be reclaimed, Rynn acts on this revelation, setting the stage for a decisive turning point in the battle.
Artwork
Luke Ross delivers solid work on the artwork for this issue. The space battle sequences are particularly strong, with dynamic panels that vividly capture the X-Wings as they engage Oskure’s forces. The sense of movement and scale gives the conflict real weight, reinforcing just how high the stakes have become.
The closing sequence is equally compelling. When Rynn dons the Crown of Verity and channels its power to reclaim the life force Oskure had stolen from her, the moment carries genuine dramatic intensity. Ross handles the escalation beautifully, especially in the panels where Luke and Han urge Rynn to stop before she goes too far. Their concern is etched clearly into their expressions, grounding the supernatural spectacle in something deeply human.
Overall
This issue brings the first post–Return of the Jedi story arc to a satisfying close, with Reyna Oskure defeated, at least for now. The creative team has successfully re-established the stakes for the New Republic era while giving the original trilogy heroes a fresh and formidable adversary.
With this opening chapter wrapped up, it will be interesting to see what new challenges await Luke, Leia, and Han as the series moves forward. The post–Endor period remains fertile ground for storytelling, particularly as the New Republic continues to consolidate power in a fractured galaxy.
One lingering question is whether the series might eventually reintroduce Grand Admiral Thrawn into the comic landscape. Given his enduring popularity and complex legacy within the wider Star Wars mythos, his presence would certainly raise the strategic stakes in a very different way.
