LANDO

Synopsis: LANDO IS ALL IN! THE TRIAL OF LANDO CALRISSIAN for treason against the REBEL ALLIANCE comes down to its stunning finale! The evidence is not in Lando’s favor, nor is the fact that he’s offered a full confession to the crimes of which he is accused. Does he have any cards left to play?

The Story

While waiting to stand trial for his crimes against the Rebellion a droid makes its way into Lando’s cell and attempts to kill him. Thankfully, Advocate Georgio’s droid is on hand to save the day and manages to overpower the other droid.

As the final day of the trial moves forward Georgio gets Lando’s friend Lobot to take the stand and explain that Lando has never really been disloyal to the Alliance. After this compelling testimony, Georgio gets Lando to take the stand and state his case.

The Artwork

Madibek Musabekov puts in a great shift on this issue. The artwork that shows the droid assassination attempt at the beginning of the book is brilliantly played out with some great moments. But its the courtroom drama toward the end of the book that is really drawn well. I just loved the expression on General Madines face when Lando makes his case.

Overall

Charles Soule does a fantastic job of wrapping up this story arc and even goes to the trouble of doing a bit of foreshadowing of Lando’s future promotion to General, which is something we see in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The character of advocate Georgio has been a lot of fun to watch during all the issues of this story arc, but its only by the close of the story that we get an inkling of just what type of person she is when it comes to manipulating events to get herself the desired outcome.

Overall this story arc has been a lot of fun.
