Synopsis: THE TRIAL OF LANDO CALRISSIAN! After the events of DARK DROIDS, LANDO is at a crossroads. Saving his friend LOBOT has cost him more than he expected as now ADMIRAL ACKBAR and MON MOTHMA are putting Lando on trial. With THE REBELLION locked in battle with THE EMPIRE, how will this trial’s end impact the Rebellion’s future?

The Story

Having sold intelligence to Jabba The Hutt and other crimes. Lando must now face the consequences of his actions and stand trial. But it seems that the Rebel Alliance’s leadership is torn about how to proceed. General Madina and Admire Akbar would rather flush Lando out of an airlock. Whereas Leia and Mon Mothma think that a military trial should take place, but in secret so as not to negatively affect the morale of their troops who all love Lando.

It seems that Lando is pretty much done for. He has confessed his crimes and the Rebels have him straight down the line. But can his Lawyer come up with a way of convincing the Rebel leaders that Lando is still of value to them?  Can she convince Madine and Akbar that they don’t care enough about Lando’s crimes to condemn him?

Artwork

Madibek Musabekov captures the seriousness of the hopelessness of Lando’s situation brilliantly. I loved how well-drawn the panels were where we see Lobot trying to convince Lando to fight his corner. I also loved the panels where we see the team of mysterious villains who are planning a kidnap of Mon Mothma.

Overall

We’ve been waiting a few months for this particular story arc and it’s gotten off to a great start. I enjoy the fact that Calrissian is somewhat remorseful for his actions as it’s a side of him we haven’t seen before. I also quite enjoyed the discussion at the start of the book between Leia, Mon Mothma, General Madine, and Admiral Akbar about how they should proceed in pursuing justice for the Alliance.
