Synopsis: “MISSING IN ACTION” LEIA ORGANA, CHEWBACCA and LANDO CALRISSIAN battle BOBA FETT for the ultimate prize — HAN SOLO! But they are not the only people who have come to the remote world of JEKARA seeking the smuggler.
Picking up from where the last issue left off. Luke has warned Leia and the gang that Vader is also after Han. While Luke is making his way to help them. He starts to have flashbacks to his last confrontation with Darth Vader. Meanwhile on Jekara Lord Vader is confronted by a very skilled Qi’ra. Watching from afar are Leia, Lando, and Chewie. Lando is reluctant to retrieve Solo as he does like their odds for success. But Leia is keen to push forward and is hopeful that Luke will arrive in time to distract Vader and give them their chance to rescue Han.
Generally. Carlo Pagulayan does a pretty good job with the art in this issue. The Lightsaber fight between Vader and Qi’ra is drawn well as are the flashback sequences of Luke and Vader’s fight from Empire. But the likeness of some of the classic characters seems a little off. In Particular, Lando, who in prior issues looked like Billy Dee Williams who played him. But for some reason in this issue. Lando’s likeness looks like a pick and mix of Billy Dee Williams and Donald Glover. I found this to be kind of a distraction as I am rather fussy about character likenesses looking right when you are doing comics based on movie and TV franchises. Though this only really affected Lando’s character. The other characters looked okay.
Charles Soule continues to tease us with a fantastic story that brings lots of classic characters together. I loved the whole sequence at the start of the comic where Luke is reflecting on his last duel with Darth Vader. I also enjoyed seeing Qi’ra fight, Vader. Obviously, she was given a bit of lightsaber training from Darth Maul, who she was working for when we last saw here in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Overall. It was a really fun and enjoyable read. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
