Synopsis: PRELUDE TO WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS: “THE HUNT FOR HAN” CHEWBACCA has heard from an old friend with intelligence on the location of notorious bounty hunter BOBA FETT, known to be in possession of HAN SOLO. Along with LUKE SKYWALKER, the loyal Wookiee sets off in search of his lost friend, on an adventure to Nar Shadaa. The SMUGGLER’S MOON! But will this mission prevent plucky astromech droid ARTOO DETOO from passing along a crucial message to Luke? One that will affect the fate of the entire Jedi Order…?
When he gets a tip from an old friend about a sighting of Boba Fett. Chewbacca persuades Luke Skywalker to go with him to the smuggler’s moon known as Nar Shadaa. A place that makes Mos Eisley look like a children’s play pen. Indeed, it is a place that Luke does not have fond memories of. As they arrive. They meet Chewbacca’s friend Sagwa who tells them where he saw Boba Fett. Who was going by the name of Jango.
As they investigate. The group encounters some unwanted attention from the local crimelord. Who also has an interest in finding Boba Fett.
Ramon Rosanas does a fantastic job of the artwork for this issue. I particularly enjoyed the training sequence at the beginning of the book in which we see Luke practicing with his lightsaber. Additionally, the way he drew Chewbacca and Sagwa was nicely done. He managed to make it so we could tell the two wookies apart. I also loved the various locations that we got to see on Nar Shadda as well as the shootout that happens toward the end of the book.
PRELUDE TO WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS: “THE HUNT FOR HAN” sets things up nicely for what am sure will be a great adventure. It also looks like the story could potentially crossover with Star Wars: Bounty Hunters in which Valance is also on the hunt for Boba Fett. Hopefully, that is the case.
Overall. Charles Soule does a solid job of setting the story up. The question is. Will Luke and Chewie catch up with Boba Fett? Will they meet Valance along the way? We don’t know, but it sure is going to be fun finding out.
