Synopsis: In this final chapter of The Scorpius Run. Captain Pike’s worst nightmare has come to fruition. Under immense gravitational waves on the racecourse, the Enterprise’s shields have collapsed, its hull integrity is failing, and the ship is being torn apart, piece by piece. All the while, Spock is aboard an alien vessel of foreign tech, among a crew desperate to push on and win Zephyx’s race. He just may be the Enterprise crew’s only hope for survival, but can he persuade the others to defy Zephyx when their home planet is on the line, and can he do so in time?

The Story

In this final issue of the series. Things look rather grim for Captain Pike and the Enterprise, but thankfully Spock has made progress with the Uvex crew and convinces them to lend aid. With help from the Uvex Captain Pike is able to communicate with all the alien races taking part in Zephyx’s race and get them to work together to thwart his plans.

Artwork

Angel Hernandez and Nick Filardi do a fantastic job of the artwork in this issue. The opening few panels where we see a distressed Enterprise looked fantastic and had me wondering how Pike and his crew were going to pull off getting out alive.  I loved the image of the Enterprise merged together with all the other ships to make one large ship. Not only was this a fun way of reinterpreting the rules of Zephyx’s race. It’s also the kind of out-of-the-box thinking that you’d expect from a good Star Trek story.

Overall

Mike Johnson and Ryan Parrott do a solid job of concluding their story and give us a quite satisfying conclusion and some character growth for a few of the key characters such as Laan.

Overall. A fun story with a satisfying conclusion. Now all we need is a new story or maybe even an ongoing Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Comic.
