Synopsis: It’s a good day to die! Left with no other choice, the crew of the Defiant assists Hugh in assimilating B’Elanna in hopes of reclaiming control over the parasite embedded in her brain stem. But it’s a race against time and the undead as hordes of infected Starbase crew bang on the hangar doors, demanding Worf and his crew surrender and become one with the parasitic collective!

The Story

Picking up from where the last issue left off. Hugh has assimilated B’Elanna who has been infected by one of the parasites that has overrun Starbase 99. Through his connection to B’Elanna Hugh has learned that the Parasites have invaded the Starbase via an interdimensional portal. Armed with this new information Captain Worf leads his rag tag group on a mission to destroy the portal and end the Parasitic invasion, but first they need to get through a swarm of infected officers. Lucky for them help is on hand from an old enemy who appears to be having a change of heart about her allegiances.

Meanwhile, Nymira is still struggling with her past demons and is self-medicating to try and forget. When Sela arrives on the scene to help Worf and his crew. Nymira uses it as an opportunity to escape for some alone time.

The Artwork

Angel Unzueta continues to do solid work with the artwork. We get a great panel of a giant parasite as we see Worf and his group finally get to the reactor. The final image of the book is a brilliant one of Worf and Ro standing shoulder to shoulder as they make ready for battle.

Overall

Christopher Cantwell continues to deliver the goods as we see Worf and the crew take on the parasites we first met in the TNG episode ‘Conspiracy’. We get some great character moments and Sela gets one of her biggest wishes fulfilled as the team prepare to put an end to the parasitic invasion. We also get some further exploration of Nymira’s past, which could be a comic book mini-series in its own right.
