Synopsis: This month in Star Trek. With Federation, Romulan, and Cardassian forces all vying for leverage over the Tzenkethi war fleet, Captain Sisko is left with no choice but to request official assistance from Starfleet after he and his crew have fallen out of favor with the warmongering reptilian species. However, the proposed solution—and only option Starfleet is willing to approve—is questionable, with the potential of endangering not only the Theseus crew…but the galaxy at large.

The Story

When Sisko learns from Admiral Sato that Starfleet has an alternate option for dealing with the Tzenkethi people he must take action as fast as he can to try and avert a war that would destabilize the Alpha and Beta quadrants. Meanwhile at the core of Tzenkethi. Dr. Crusher and Scotty try to communicate their findings to Sisko, but when their communications device fails they are forced to abandon their mission and leave the site.

The Artwork

Marcus To and Lee Loughridge continue to do a solid job with the artwork for this issue. I loved the panels where we saw Data hooked up to the Theseus computers and the visual story of Data’s gradual shutdown as he overtaxes his positronic brain. I also loved the artwork showing Scotty and Dr. Crusher’s work at the Tzenkethi planet core. As well as the drawing of the massive Tzenkethi ship.

Overall

Collin Kelly and  Jackson Lanzing continue to spin us a rip-roaring tale in which we get to learn about the often-mentioned but never-seen Tzenkethi. The book also plays with the tensions and the political vacuum that needs filling in a post-dominion war Federation as we see the conflicts between Earth and Romulus get stoked as the two superpowers of Star Trek compete for the attention of the Tzenkethi people.

Overall. A great story arc that’s truly testing Captain Sisko’s abilities as one of Starfleet’s most capable officers.
