Trek

Synopsis: This month on Star Trek, Lieutenant Shaxs receives visions from the Bajoran Prophets. He sees his past and his future, and he sees the trial of Benjamin Sisko. The crew of the Theseus must fight their way back together after being separated across Cardassian space before their Captain’s fate is set in stone and Kahless can carry out his promise of more bloodshed…

The Story

Picking up from where the last issue left off. Sisko has been found guilty of all the crimes he has been accused of by the Cardassian people. But it soon becomes apparent that Sisko wasn’t the person that was on trial. As the whole thing was staged by Damar in order to flush out Cardassians who still believed in the previous political regime. Meanwhile on the Theseus T’Lir has had some rather disturbing visions in which he has seen Sisko die. However, it soon becomes apparent that things are not as they seem.

The Artwork

Mike Feehan and his colorist  Lee Loughridge do some solid work on this issue. I loved the panel where we see Sisko about to get shot by the Cardassians in the trial room on Cardassia. The sudden twist in this story is visually stunning as we see Sisko’s shocked expression at the fact that he has been allowed to live. The best visuals are saved for the final few pages where we see Sisko and his crew receive the message that Work sent Sisko in the last issue of Star Trek: Defiant.

Overall

This issue wraps up the trial of Benjamin Sisko rather too quickly for my taste as I felt it was all a little too rushed. However, the mission brief of this issue was obviously to get the story arc concluded in order to start the ongoing Star Trek comic to link up with the DAY OF BLOOD storyline that has just begun in Star Trek: Defiant. This mission is absolutely accomplished with some thrilling final pages.
