Synopsis: Space Ghost, Jan, Jace, and Blip face the horror that is Zorak and the Cult of Lokar! With Zorak seizing the upper hand, the Guardian of the Spaceways is faced with an impossible battle — one whose shocking ending will leave a permanent mark on everyone involved!

The Story

Zorak and his cult have captured Jan and Jace and now have Space Ghost held prisoner and are using Jan and Jace as leverage to get Space Ghost to feed energy into a Hedron Collidor, which when active will resurrect their god. Meanwhile, while Jan and Jace struggle to escape their Monkey Blip has figured out a clever plan that will spring them.

The Artwork

Jonathan Lau produces some fantastic art for this issue. The line and color work depicting the Hadron Collider and the locusts that spring forth and are brought brilliantly to life in a glorious wash of color that brings the chaos of Jan and Jace’s reunion with Space Ghost to the page. I loved the final page as it sells the moment brilliantly.

Overall

David Pepose continues his Space Ghost story with some wonderful action beats and fun dialogue exchanges between Space Ghost and Zorak who is quite frankly a few cards short of a full deck. You get proper mad villain vibes from Zorak who is blatantly obsessed with releasing his god unto the world irrespective of the personal cost to him and everyone else. Ultimately, you know while reading that this is not going to end well and it doesn’t as one of our heroes is blatantly struggling by the close of the story and you can’t help but empathize with them.

Much like the previous issues this chapter really feels like a Space Ghost adventure for the modern age. Great book. I can’t wait to read the next one.
