Synopsis: In Space Ghost #7,  Our human heroes find themselves trapped on a mysterious jungle planet where they face The Creature King, who commands a host of beasts to do his nefarious bidding. In their most desperate hour of need, the team turns to the one member who can save them — Blip!

The Story

When the team crash-lands on a mysterious world ruled by animals, it’s up to Blip to protect Jace and rescue Space Ghost and Jan. Unfortunately, Space Ghost, Jace, and Jan are losing their ability to think clearly, victims of the Creature King’s encepho-ray, which controls the planet’s humanoid inhabitants. Luckily for the team, the ray has the opposite effect on Blip, granting him the ability to speak. Using his newfound voice, Blip helps Jace focus and resist the ray’s influence.

The Artwork

Jonathan Lau delivers fantastic artwork throughout this book. I especially loved the drawings of the Creature King with his crown, radiating power. The standout moment, though, has to be when the Creature King orders his gorilla to kill Space Ghost and Jan. The flashback scenes to Blip as a baby were another highlight, beautifully juxtaposed with his monologue about why he feels such a deep connection to the humans.

Overall

David Pepose gives us another entertaining Space Ghost adventure, this time on a mysterious planet where the animals have flipped the script, rising from the bottom of the food chain to the very top. I especially enjoyed seeing Blip take on a more prominent role, with his already impressive intelligence amplified by the Creature King’s technology. That said, I found myself wondering how the Creature King came to possess such advanced tech.

While Space Ghost and Jan have their moments, the true standouts are Jace and Blip, who really carry the heart of this story.
