In Review: Ripper Street – Edmund Reid Did This

The walls close in on Reid as a secret from his past threatens to destroy his future in Whitechapel.

Synopsis: The walls close in on Reid as a secret from his past threatens to destroy his future in Whitechapel.

Review: The above synopsis is pretty much an understatement of what actually happens to Reid, Bennett, Captain Jackson and Susan in this story.

Basically in a nutshell Commission Dove has learned of the cover up concerning Reid having savagely killed the person that held his daughter Matilda captive. And Bennett, Reid and Jackson by the close are carrying on their investigations while evading the their peers in Division H.

Drakes wife Rose learns that she wasn’t mad after all as Long Susan is finally captured, but later escapes custody by helping out Bennett and Reid. Drakes relationship with his wife takes a turn for the worse as does Drakes fate and future on the series.

This was a brilliant episode, which left off with an awesome cliffhanger, which will leave most viewers in shock and awe.

Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg all put in brilliant performances and Charlene McKenna puts in one of her stronger turns to date as Bennetts rather pissed off wife Rose.

Jonas Armstrong who is best known for his role of Robin Hood in the 2006 series puts in a fantastic turn as the murderous Nathaniel who is revealed to be the man that Reid and Drake have been trying to track for the entire series.
