Synopsis: The castaways face relentless attacks from the island’s monstrous inhabitants—but help is on the way. Kaia, Irene, and Mike set sail for Skull Island, determined to turn the tide. With an epic battle looming, they’ll need Kong’s strength to stand a chance against the new threat!
The Story
Kaia leads Charlie and Cap through the ruins of a dead village, where they uncover hidden medical supplies before being attacked by three Horncrest Chameleons. Cap kills one, but the others pursue until Etana severs a tongue and helps them escape into the trees. Kaia realizes the island has become too dangerous for her people and plans to evacuate them to Annie’s Island.
Meanwhile, aboard the Leviathan, Irene, Druid, and their crew battle through a violent storm surrounding Skull Island. Annie revels in the chaos, feeling alive within it. As the ship nears the coast, the monstrous titan Yuggoth erupts from the ground, revealing a far greater threat.
On land, tensions rise between Irene and Druid as his men recklessly hunt wildlife, provoking deadly retaliation. When Irene is attacked by burrowing mole monsters, Kaia saves her with a precise arrow. The two women join forces to locate Charlie, just as he reunites with Mike.
As calm briefly returns, Kaia spots Yuggoth moving again and realizes its true plan—to draw out Kong by launching an all-out monster assault on the evacuating islanders. The threat of a massive confrontation looms as Skull Island teeters on the brink of chaos.
Artwork
Christopher Jones delivers some solid artwork in this issue, which opens with a thrilling scene of Dog catching a shark for breakfast. The storm sequences, as the Leviathan battles its way toward the island, are especially striking—full of movement and atmosphere. Midway through the book, we get a powerful panel of Kong, gravely injured, reminding us why Kaia is determined to relocate her people. With Kong unable to defend Skull Island—at least for now—the stakes feel higher than ever.
Overall
This comic stays true to the characters and situations established in the Netflix animated series. Christopher Jones successfully carries over the show’s visual style, giving the book a natural continuity and helping it feel like a true sequel to the series.
