Synopsis: As war is looming on the horizon on the planet Shasu, the reluctant ruler of the Bloodaxe family is conflicted between living up to his father’s domineering legacy and maintaining the peace. It is up to him to settle the conflicts within himself, and his family, before the entire planet erupts in war.

The Story

Yisrael Bloodaxe The leader of Shasu is faced with an ultimatum from The Motherworld and neither option will do anything to unify the peoples of the planet who are once again divided. In hopes of helping their father Darrian and Devra have an idea, but unfortunately for them. Yisrael is in an impossible position and is struggling to find some middle ground.

In orbit around the planet. The Motherworlds flagship makes ready to enact its solution to the potential war on Shasu. Turn the planet into glass and smash it. Or make use of their robot inside man Jimmy.

The Artwork

Clark Bint continues to do a solid job with the artwork. Some of the best panels are those where we see Darrian and Devra sparring with their weapons while discussing what they should do in order to help their father and maintain peace on the planet. However one of their options would mean bringing in a new movement. Also good was the foreshadowing at the start of the comic where we see Yisrael go through some sort of right of passage into his adult life. It’s a great way to foreshadow the difficult choice that the older version of Yisrael is dealing with.

Overall

This second issue of Rebel Moon: House of Bloodaxe continues to do a fairly solid job of revealing the complex politics that led to the destruction of Shasu and the absolute rise to power of Motherworld.

I look forward to seeing how this all plays out in the third issue, which drops next month.
