Synopsis: When the fallen of Oz and Earth begin to return to the lands of the living, Dorothy, Glinda and all of their allies must join forces to discover the cause and fight against this fateful event, before the Emerald City falls forever. Don’t miss this shocking new series that will change the world of Oz forever!

The Story

Oz and its surrounding lands are in strife. The King and the OZ council are getting nowhere quickly. However, when an elemental dragon attacks the city of OZ, Dorothy, The Lion Man and Scarecrow do what they can with some helpful magic to subdue the beast. Yet, despite their best efforts the dragon just reconstructs itself and prepares for another attack. But when the Wizard of Oz returns claiming that he has been sent to help from Glinda. Dorothy and her friends are understandably a bit bemused.

The Artwork

The art team does a fantastic job on this opening issue. The final few pages where we see the elemental dragon attack the city of Oz are brilliantly drawn and would look great if they were made into a poster.

Overall

David Wohl and his creative team have done a great job on this first issue. Seeing an OZ that is falling on hard times is very much a mirror of what seems to be happening right now across the world. The opening page where we see Queen Ann Soforth take down another settlement and order her men to kill all the men and children felt somewhat reflective of some of the madmen that we have as world leaders in certain parts of the world.

Overall. This is a strong first issue and it will be interesting to see how the Wizard, Dorothy, and the rest will solve many of the problems that Oz and its surrounding settlements are having.
