Synopsis: Nemesis has launched his most deadly plan yet, backed by an elite team of henchmen—unaware that one of them is a mole working for the FBI. But can she carry out his ruthless orders without blowing her cover?
The Story
Nemesis has launched his most ambitious plan yet, assembling an elite team of henchmen to execute his dangerous scheme. Among them is Kitty Tepper, a covert FBI agent tasked with infiltrating the group and gathering intelligence without blowing her cover. Unfortunately for Kitty, the person she is impersonating has escaped FBI custody and is onto her. As Nemesis demands increasingly ruthless actions, Tepper struggles with the moral cost of following orders versus protecting innocent lives. Tensions rise within the team as rivalries, secrets, and hidden agendas surface, threatening to unravel the operation from within. Each member faces difficult choices, forced to confront loyalty, ambition, and fear in equal measure. Tepper’s mission grows ever more perilous, and every decision could jeopardise her life or compromise the FBI’s plans. Meanwhile, Nemesis demonstrates just how far he is willing to go to achieve his goals, manipulating those around him and leaving chaos in his wake. The issue builds to a tense climax, as Tepper must decide whether maintaining her cover is worth the cost—or if intervening could stop Nemesis’ deadly plan. The comic closes on a suspenseful cliffhanger, leaving the future of the team—and Nemesis’ scheme—hanging in the balance.
The Artwork
Matteo Scalera and Giovanna Niro continue to deliver strong artwork for this book. The panel where Agent Tepper, posing as Sophie, faces off against the henchman Lynch is brilliantly executed, with the facial expressions perfectly conveying that neither is willing to back down. Another standout sequence shows Nemesis unleashing a deadly gas on a group of children while attempting to execute his latest plan—but things do not go as smoothly as he hopes, adding tension and unpredictability to the story.
I also enjoyed the brief dream sequence where a zombified version of Nemesis’s protégé from the previous season returns to seek revenge.
Overall
I’m continuing to enjoy this series and know that with only two issues left after this one, things are really going to kick off. Following Kitty’s story arc throughout has made this a more compelling read, and the stakes are incredibly high for her, especially as she is pregnant. I’m hoping she will make it through the story unscathed—or at least as unscathed as possible.
