After the bloody defeat of Violencia and Santos, there’s no rest for Patience. She now has an entire criminal empire at her fingertips

Synopsis: After the bloody defeat of Violencia and Santos, there’s no rest for Patience. She now has an entire criminal empire at her fingertips, and bags of blood money. A new threat emerges from out of town, and Patience must silence Maurice before it’s too late.

Review: Steve Niles returns with a new story arc for Patience, which sees her life become even more complicated.

The Story

While Patience is doing her Patrol as Kick-Ass she has a run in with a new gang, which have wolf tattoos on their wrists. Added to that. He brother in law Maurice has awoken from his coma and he knows the truth about Patience and her secret.

The Artwork

Marcelo Frusin provides some solid artwork throughout this issue, which is light on the action and pretty heavy on the domestic side of Patience life as she deals with the aftermath of recent events. All that said. We do get some fun moments. One of which is the reveal of the new big bad toward the end of the issue and we also have the confrontation between Kick-Ass and Maurice.

By far my favorite panels though are the few that deal with Patience and her Husband who has suddenly decided he wants to spend time with the kids. Which is a bit off given that he quite happily walked out months ago during the very first issue of the new Kick-Ass. The look of absolute disgust on patience’s face when she sees her hubby was so well drawn.

Overall

Steve Niles is doing a good job of getting his ducks in a row for what looks like it could be a promising new arc. I’m enjoying the twist in regards to Maurice, which has been set up well, but the surprise was the return of Kick-Ass husband, who we never really expected to see again.

Overall. A solid opening issue for the new story arc.
