IRON FIST

Synopsis: THE HUNT IS ON! As the NEW IRON FIST adjusts to his role, he struggles to handle the WARRING SOURCES of his power! Can he find balance before they consume him? The answers he seeks may lie at the heart of K’UN-LUN — with the PAST IRON FISTS! Meanwhile, DANNY RAND’S hunt for the Mysterious Iron Fist heats up! In order to catch him, Danny will have to cash in a favor…from an old friend!

The Story

Having witnessed the new Iron Fist aka Lin-Lie in action. Danny Rand is curious as to why the newcomer is having so much difficulty channeling Shao Lou’s Chi. In order to try and track the new guy down. Danny goes to his old friend Luke Cage and enlists him as well as Colleen Wing and Misty Knight in trying to catch the new Iron Fist.

Meanwhile, back in K’un-Lun Lin-Lie struggles to handle the demon sword shards in his hands from interfering with his ability to channel Shao Lou’s, Dragon Chi. But he also has to deal with a few people who are not too happy with him being the new Iron Fist.

The Artwork

Michael YG produces some great artwork for this issue. I really loved the flashback sequence to past Iron Fist and their encounters with Shao Lou. But its the way in which the artist illustrates the sword shards in Lin-Lie’s hands that is really striking. I also loved the panel in which we see Lin-Lie having acupuncture performed on him to help him bypass the effect of the sword shards.

Overall

Alyssa Wong does a pretty good job of moving the story on while simultaneously giving us a bit more mythology surrounding K’un-Lun and past people to hold the title of Iron Fist. I particularly enjoyed seeing Danny Rand meet up with Luke Cage again and hope that we get to see them actually working together in the next issue.
