IT’S VLAD VS. ELVIRA — AND THE FATE OF THE WORLD IS AT STAKE!
VLAD

Synopsis: IT’S VLAD VS. ELVIRA — AND THE FATE OF THE WORLD IS AT STAKE! Vlad the Impaler has plundered the Multiverse of Movies to build his monster army, and now he’s ready to invade! Can the Mistress of the Dark stop him before he conquers reality itself? It’s the final issue, so this is Elvira’s last chance!

The Story

Having come up against Kaiju in the last issue. Elvira is provided with some super help in her fight against Vlad The Impaler and disgraced movie director Stanley Saliva. To help her with her final battle Agent Grant calls in The Revengers and The Guild to help Elvira fight off Vlad, Stanly, the Vampires, Werewolves, Frankenstein’s monsters, and Kaiju. But if that isn’t enough help. Frankenstein Bride has formed a girl gang that includes a mix of female monsters from movies and TV. With help like this. What could possibly go wrong?

The Artwork

Kewber Baal has a proper artist party in this final issue where Elvira gets lots of help from a group of superheroes that parody both Marvel’s Avengers and DC’s Justice League. I’m just waiting for National Lampoon to do this as a movie. We also have some flashback fun at the start of the issue in which we get a brief glimpse of a very young Cassandra Peterson in a time before she became Elvira Mistress of the Dark. All in all this issue is packed with some brilliant visuals.

Overall

David Avallone delivers a knockout punch of fun with an issue that goes a little meta with Elvira telling him how to write the story by insisting that there should be no flashbacks. Add to that the two parody versions of Marvel and DC’s iconic Superhero teams and you are in for one hell of a fun finale.
