Saturday

Synopsis: This month on Dungeons & Dragons: Saturday Morning Adventures II. Bobby is missing! After crash-landing in the middle of a pirate war on the Sword Coast, the party has one fewer member…and one more? Bobby and Sheila have been clashing over Bobby’s increasingly, well, barbaric behavior, and it appears Bobby has now run away. With the Dungeon Master’s health deteriorating and the quest to find a cure further out of reach, they get help from a surprising ally. Oh, did we mention there’s a sea monster? Because there’s definitely a sea monster.

The Story

With Bobby having run off in the last issue. The remaining members of the team find themselves in the middle of a pirate war on the Sword Coast. With the Dungeon Master’s health continuing to deteriorate. The group is now reliant on their friend Jarlaxle and some pirate buddies of his, which include Boo The Hamster of Justice. Meanwhile, Bobby finds himself a prisoner of a group of pirates who call themselves The Hanged Man Crew, and their leader Captain Wrathun.

The Artwork

George Kambadais does a brilliant job with the artwork and continues to get the likeness of the key characters just as I remember them from the series. I particularly loved the character drawing for Captain Wrathun and the See Monster.

Overall

David M. Booher continues to deliver a story that might well have featured in the popular 80s animated series had it continued to run on Saturday mornings in the US. I loved the artwork for the Sword Coast and the pirate settlement where the group finds themselves staying for a time while they wait for Jaraxle. And I loved the introduction of Boo The Hamster of Justice.

Overall. This is another enjoyable issue, which sees the group go out to see in search of Bobby and some pirate booty.
