Synopsis: Rose Tyler must work with the Eleventh and Eighth Doctors (Matt Smith and Paul McGann) to end the tyrannical Empire of the warmongering Bad Wolf Empress!
The Story
Picking up from where the last issue left off. D’Pau the assistant to the Bad Wolf Empress has betrayed her and raised an army of Sontaran to take over her empire. Furthermore, The Empress has been traveling with the 11th Doctor who has been showing her the error of her ways. Which has left the 8th Doctor and Rose Tyler to deal with D’Pau. Thankfully the 11th Doctor and Empress get back in time to help the 8th and Rose defeat D’Pau and his Sontaran soldiers.
The Artwork
Roberta Ingranata does a fantastic job with this final issue to what has been a story with some fantastic visuals. There’s a gorgeous single splash page where Rose and the Empress hold hands in order to help The Two Doctors make their paradoxical plan work. The image is of the two hands holding each other with flashback sequences from the lives of the two different Rose Tylers. It’s a fantastic image.
Overall
Jody Houser does a great job of wrapping this story up. I really enjoyed how she nailed the back and forth between the two doctors as they both come up with their plan at the same time by completing each other’s sentences. It’s obvious that Houser knows her Doctor Who and is well versed in both the modern and classic incarnations, which really shines through.
We also get a nice moment at the end of the book where Rose tells the 11th Doctor not to travel on his own for too long. To put this in perspective for those that have not been following the comic. This story takes place shortly after the 11th Doctor lost Amy and Rory Pond to the Weeping Angels.
Overall. A fantastic conclusion to what has been a really fun adventure.
