Synopsis: This month on Dark Knights of Steel. War is on the horizon as a series of assassinations has rocked the lands. The Kingdom of Storms is gathering its allies with eyes on the destruction of Kal-El and his family. What secret does the Dark Knight learn that could be the key to everything?
The Story
Having learned about her father’s assassination in the last issue. Zala Jor-El has set out to avenge him. Meanwhile, King Jefferson Peirce of the storm Kingdom pays a visit to the Amazon’s and enlists their help in the coming war, he blames Zala for the death of his son. Diana aka Wonder Woman is having none of it as she is convinced that her friend Zala would not kill in cold blood.
Elsewhere, Bruce Wayne and Alfred investigate a fallen meteor, which reveals a secret about the true origins of Bruce Wayne and The Batman.
Artwork
Once again Yasmine Putri knocks it out of the park. The meeting between Jefferson and the Queen of the Amazons is brilliantly drawn. I really loved Diana’s reaction to the news that he was blaming Zala for the death of his son. And the panel where we see Diana riding a winged horse is awesome fun.
We also get some awesome panels as we see Jefferson do battle with Zala Jor-El.
Overall
Tom Taylor continues to weave together an interesting narrative, which sees some of our favorite superheroes in a medieval setting. This issue presents us with a few more plot twists as well as another death or what I thought was going to be a regular character. We get a fantastic plot twist at the end where we find out that this universe’s version of Bruce Wayne is a tad on the super side.
Overall. A solid third issue, which adds a few more interesting layers to the story.
