DAREDEVIL'S SECOND ARC BEGINS WITH A BRUTAL BOUT!
BOUT

Description: DAREDEVIL’S SECOND ARC BEGINS WITH A BRUTAL BOUT! In the senses-shattering second arc of DAREDEVIL, creators Saladin Ahmed and Germán Peralta continue the explosive debut of this new series featuring an all-new villain for Daredevil to face down!

The Story

While Father Matt is trying to purchase a television for St Nick’s he has a chance encounter with She-Hulk who is fully aware of his new life as a Priest. Having learned that an investigator is looking into St Nick’s. She-Hulk takes Matt for lunch to fill him in about the investigator and let him know that it is likely that someone is out to get him. However, when the meal turns into several courses across various restaurants. Matt begins to suspect that She-Hulk has been possessed by a Demon and sets out to do an exorcism on her while disguised in a makeshift Daredevil costume he puts together on the fly. However, when they both get attacked by Mr. Hyde things become even more complicated.

The Artwork

German Peralta does a great job with the art for this issue. The images of She-Hulk and Father Matt having dinner are hilarious. Especially given the amount of food that She-Hulk orders. Also fun is the expressions on people’s faces as they bear witness to what can only be considered pure gluttony, which is a big clue to one of the 7 demons that Matt is up against.

I also loved the panels where we see Daredevil dressed similarly to how he was in the first season of the Netflix show trying to subdue She-Hulk so he can get the demon out of her.

Overall

Saladin Ahmed continues to spin an interesting story in which we see Father Matt adjusting to his new life while trying to stay true to his spirituality and the rules that he must live by. One of the most interesting aspects of Daredevil’s character has always been the conflict of interest between his secret identity and his religious and spiritual beliefs. So it is great to see this aspect get explored more.
