Synopsis: AT LONG LAST…LOVERS QUARREL! A dangerous and lethal new enemy wearing a familiar face has made itself a known and violent force in the lives of the DAREDEVILS, Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios! But after so many years of harmony in heroics, life and love, the two DAREDEVILS may have at last reached a breaking point – as the means and lengths they ought to go to dispatch this new enemy may tear them apart forever!
The Story
Having managed to defeat the King Pin in the last issue. Matt Murdock finds himself faced with a Wilson Fisk that is looking for absolution for his sins, but Matt does not feel worthy enough to minister to Fisks needs and goes off leaving Fisk to pray.
Meanwhile, back at the Orphanage Father Javi faces down the evil spirit that is after Jason, and the kids have run to the nearest neighbor for help.
Artwork
Chris Campana continues to do a great job with the artwork. The panels in which we see Fisk pleading with Daredevil Aka Matt Murdock for absolution were really well drawn. The despair on Fisks face really sells is as does Murdock’s bemused expression, which cannot be completely concealed from the mask.
I also liked the work done on the panels where we see poor Father Javi trapped beneath the debris of what remains of the Church Orphonage.
Overall
Another strong issue that continues to illustrate Matt Murdock’s struggle to keep both of his lives as a kindly priest and avenging Daredevil in check. I enjoyed seeing the conflict that Matt struggles with when he refuses to help Fisk find the absolution that he is looking for. The final panel is pretty much telegraphed from the start of the book, but the journey toward it is well-written and truly earned.
