Synopsis: THE FURY OF DOCTOR DOOM! Betsy Braddock thought she had enough fury to deal with as Morgan Le Fay brings the Forgemaster Federal and his armies to the UK. But when Britain remains unbowed, Morgan reaches for the big gun – in the form of Doom! Will Morgan’s ally of the past help her build the Avalon of her demented dreams? Or does Doctor Doom have a plan of his own up his iron sleeves?
The Story
Having tricked The Fury version of Captain Britain into thinking that it had destroyed her brother in the last issue. Betsy and her girlfriend Rachel Summers aka Askani try and figure out a plan to put an end to Morgan’s schemes. But first Betsy has to hatch a means of capturing and imprisoning the Fury version of Captain Britain. To that end, she calls upon Tony Stark and his Avengers to act as bait so that they can trap the Fury.
Elsewhere, Morgan and Doctor Doom have enlisted some help to move their home onto British soil.
Artwork
Vasco Georgiev provides some great artwork for this issue. The panels where we see Betsy enlisting Tony Starks help are a lot of fun and the fencing match that they have is really well drawn. I also loved the images that depicted Rachel Summers learning to make proper use of her Askani powers. As well as the explanation of The Askani Records and what they mean. The images that close out this issue are really dramatic and a brilliant way to foreshadow whatever is to come in next month’s final issue.
Overall
This penultimate issue does a fantastic job of foreshadowing what is to come but does so in such a way that it gives very little away. I loved the family meeting at the close of the issue and some of the questions that the Braddock family was pondering. Especially where it concerns how they can fight Morgan Le Fay and do it in such a way that they do not endanger the country or pull Europe into another war.
