Synopsis: Despite losing half his team, Oliver remains confident that he, Felicity and Diggle can stop Cayden James and Black Siren.
Review: Picking the story up five weeks after the team was split up. Oliver, Diggle, and Felicity are feeling fairly confident that they can take down Cayden James by themselves, but it pretty quickly becomes apparent that they have bitten off a bit more than they can chew.
Elsewhere Dinah continues her relationship with Vincent Sobel aka The Vigilante but soon learns that he cannot be trusted, which spurs her on to form a crime-fighting team with Rene and Curtis.
This was a pretty strong episode for Arrow to return on. It went against what I think most people would have expected, which was for Ollie and the others to reteam with Curtis, Rene, and Dinah. I enjoyed the fact that by the close of the episode the teams are still divided. I also thought it was fun to see Ollie is pretty much backed into a corner to such an extent that he puts his trust in a gangster in order to try and take on Cayden James who has three gangs working with him.
The fight sequences where Ollie tries to take down Cayden towards the end of the episode are really well staged. I also enjoyed the fact that Felicity found a way for Diggle to be able to participate in the fight from a desktop computer using what very much looked like one of Curtis’s balls. It looked so much more fun than Halo.
Overall. A fairly strong start to the second half of the season. It’s pretty obvious that Cayden James is playing the long game, but I do have to wonder how much role the other gangs and Anatoly are going to give him before his whole master plan is finally unraveled.
