Yesterday Disney confirmed plans for a fifth ‘Indiana Jones’ movie, which would reunite Steven Spielberg with Harrison Ford for more rip roaring adventures.
Disney revealed that they aim to bring the new film out in 2019.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios said in the official announcement. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
As a fan of this movie series I’m thrilled that we’ll get to see Ford play the role again, but like many I’m hoping that the film is used as an opportunity to pass on the torch to a newer character that can continue the film series for decades to come.
I’m also hoping that they learn from the mistakes made in the last film. Such as extraterrestrial plot lines, surviving a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge that gets thrown a few miles clear of an explosion and of course the over reliance on CGI.
For me Indiana Jones always works best when the quest involves some kind of supernatural element and the effects are more physical.
Either way. As a fan of these films. I’m thrilled that we’ll get to see a new adventure in the series.
