Synopsis: BULLSEYE! After the pulse-pounding frenzy that started in DAREDEVIL #8, Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios are surrounded by their deadliest foes! The vow Elektra and Matt have taken as DAREDEVIL will face its greatest challenge yet, as they must protect not only themselves but also all of Hell’s Kitchen from BULLSEYE’S dastardly designs!
The Story
The Two Daredevils continue their fight against a possessed Wilson Fisk, but with Electra sidelined, it is down to Matt to defeat Fisk who has been possessed by the demon known as Greed. With the fight at a stalemate and everything to fight for. Matt is running on empty and is beginning to believe that God has abandoned him. Meanwhile, Jason has returned to St Nick’s, but he’s brought a demon with him.
The Artwork
Aaron Kuder continues to do great art for this book. The fight sequences between Matt Murdock and Fisk are brilliantly done and have a proper sense of momentum. My favorite moment in this issue is the page where we get a visual recap of all of the Demon’s that Matt has sent back to Hell. Added to that I truly enjoyed the panels where we see the spirit of Matt’s late father come into play.
Overall
Saladin Ahmed’s run on Daredevil continues to both entertain and impress. I’ve really been enjoying all the references to Catholic mythologies and how Ahmed has used it to craft this story arc. I also enjoy the fact that we continue to see Matt Murdoch wrestle between the contradictions that his gig as Daredevil has with his role as a Priest and his faith in God and the Church. The dialogue between Matt and Fisk during the fight is brilliantly written. In fact I could almost hear Vincent D’Onofrio speaking Fisk’s dialogue in my head while I was reading.
Overall. This was an enjoyable issue and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
