If like many you were wondering if ‘Star Trek Discovery’ would get spin-off books and comics. Then your question has been answered.
According to a report on Trekmovie ‘Star Trek Discovery’ will be launching a book and comics series soon after the series starts to stream through All Access and Netflix.
The book deal is with Simon & Schuster who have been doing all the other ‘Star Trek’ tie-in books for ages. While the comic deal is with IDW who have done some fantastic work with the Kelvin Universe as well as with many other tie-in stories.
This isn’t exactly a new concept, as there have been licensed Star Trek comics and books prior, but after this strange drought for Star Trek fans it’s nice to see that Star Trek will once again be featured in more of a manner than simply bombastic summer blockbusters every few years. Those are good and all, but the meat of Star Trek has always been the character-driven, episodic television series with the occasional big, exciting story arc.
That is what has been promised by Bryan Fuller and the team. So hopefully that will be what the fans get.
Either way. As a fan of the comics as well as the occasional ‘Star Trek’ novel. I’ll be interested to see how different the stories will be to the television series and see how the book and comics series get to evolve by the side of the TV series.
