Grand Rapids, Michigan — Big Dog Ink, a leading creator-owned comic book company, has announced a Kickstarter campaign to bring its Critterverse characters to life via action figures.

With several of its titles reaching the coveted Diamond Top 300 list, Big Dog Ink has become known for fun characters, engaging stories and top-quality art. And few have been as popular Critter, whose first issue was released twelve years ago and told the story about a catgirl superhero pulled from her small-town life and thrust into the larger world of heroes and villains and destiny.

As Big Dog Ink’s longest running continuous title, Critter will be the first offering for a limited edition run of 6-inch, fully posable action figures that come with extra accessories and a collector’s box.

Beginning January 15th, 2022, this crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter will create the first in a line of action figures based on Big Dog Ink properties. Also, this month-long campaign will give fans a chance to own something very unique, and in the words of creator Tom Hutchison, the icing on the creative cake.

“I have always said I’m here to write and create comics, first and foremost. But toys, television, movies and so on…well that’s certainly a possibility…but it would be the icing on the cake that is the stories we tell at Big Dog Ink. And I have to tell you, that icing is starting to taste pretty good now that the Critter action figure is actually about to happen!”

Big Dog Ink is proud to partner with Executive Replicas in this endeavor. Known for producing figures for Coffin Comics (Lady Death) and Dynamite Entertainment (Vampirella) and so many more, these figures are beautifully sculpted and designed and unquestionably represent the comic book characters fans around the world have come to know and love.

With over 60,000 copies of Critter in print, it’s easy to see how she has become such a fan favorite among Big Dog Ink collectors. Action figures give those fans a chance to create their own stories with Critter and the rest of Big Dog Ink’s character catalog which includes a western reimagining of Dorothy Gale, a steampunk designed Joan of Arc and even Marie Antoinette, returned rom the grave! There is no doubt that the Big Dog Ink action figure line up has more than enough creativity and fun to expand year after year!
