Richard Hatch will be making an appearance in the second season of the critically acclaimed sci-fi web series, Aidan 5. Hatch is a Golden Globe nominated actor best known for his roles on Battlestar Galactica—both the original series (Apollo) and the Syfy revamp (Tom Zarek).
“Season 2 has a big plot reveal that’s been building throughout the series and we wanted someone with the right gravitas to portray a pivotal character in that episode,” Executive Producer Ben Bays tells Scifi Pulse. “Richard was our first and only choice. Thank God he said yes because we couldn’t imagine anyone else for the part. His character ultimately ends up making an impact on the mythology of the entire series.”
Set in the not-too-distant future, Aidan 5 chronicles the journey of a detective who is trying to solve the serial killings of his own clones. Billed as a living comic book, the series is told through a unique style of filmmaking and sketched art. It is led by filmmakers Ben Bays, John Jackson, Vidas Barzdukas, and Tim Baldwin. The entire first season is available on YouTube and Blip.tv. Season 2 is currently slated for release in the first half of 2014. Aidan 5 is based on the 48 Hour Film Project short by the same name. Both the short and series have won several awards, and has been nominated for 17 International Academy of Web Television Awards.
