You probably know this but Joseph Campbell wrote a book called The Hero’s Journey in which he theorised that all stories can be boiled down to: a hero sets out on a journey that takes them from their mundane ordinary world into a world of magic and danger. The hero wins a decisive victory in the magical world; and then returns to the mundane world with the ability to bestow boons on others. While I haven’t played enough TTRPGs to know if this applies to them as well I thought it was worth mentioning.
