The long awaited UK premier for Batman prequel series ‘Gotham’ came out swinging on Monday with an impressive 1.7 Million Viewers.

The series, which has recently been picked up for a full 22 episode season by Fox launched with 1.73 million (7.8%) on average at 9pm, with an added 317,000 (2.1%) tuning in on +1.

Reality Documentary Series ‘Police Interceptors,’ which proceeded ‘Gotham’ managed to pull in a modest 761k (3.4%) at 8pm, while Under the Dome continued with 771k (5.0%) at 10pm.

This strong opening for ‘Gotham’ can only be seen as a good thing by genre fans that tune into Channel 5 for their weekly television.

Earlier this year Channel 5 upset genre fans by cancelling ‘Once Upon A Time’ and ‘The Walking Dead’.

Lets hope that fans continue to follow Gotham on Channel 5 so we do not see anymore cancellations or schedule changes for the few genre shows that the UK Channel has.
