The third season of ‘Sleepy Hollow’, if indeed the series gets picked up for its third year could wind up being a reboot.
In a recent interview for TV Line the shows star Tom Mison suggested the a third series could well act as a reboot of the shows weekly format, which was criticized heavily during the early part of the shows second season.
The Fox supernatural drama series wrapped up its second season this week with the deaths of two of Ichabod Crane’s (Mison) loved ones.
“If we do get a third season, it would definitely be a reboot,” he teased. “It certainly felt, after watching [the finale], particularly the last 20 minutes of it, it certainly felt like we’ve acknowledged the show that everyone loved, and we can still do it.”
The actor continued: “If there is no third season, then it certainly feels like ending it on a high and rounding it off nicely.”
Mison added that there are “still lots of exciting stories” for Sleepy Hollow to tell in future seasons.
“I think rounding off this season with the core group – with me, Nicole [Beharie], Lyndie [Greenwood] and Orlando [Jones] – all together, that’s a pretty exciting foursome to send off and be brilliant,” he insisted.
“I think there’s lots of potential there. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of watching Lyndie run around and kick people. Lyndie has been our secret weapon.
“Jenny is such an amazing character… I hope if there was a third season, that she’d have an awful lot more kicking people. She does more than just kick people. I can’t say ‘kick ass’, because it doesn’t suit an English accent.”
Sleepy Hollow premiered on Fox back in the fall of 2013. The show had a fantastic first season, but began to get very lost in its own continuity during the first half of its second season, which put some viewers off. Changes were made during the second half of the second series to try and address these issues, but as yet it is unclear as to if the changes made a difference to the shows numbers.
