The Arrow/Flash Spinoff Casts ‘Doctor Who’s’ Arthur Darvill

Arthur Darvill, who played Rory Williams in the hit BBC show is to play another time traveler by the name of Rip Hunter.

‘Doctor Who’s’ time traveling Roman has joined the cast of the forthcoming ‘Arrow/Flash’ spin-off series.

Arthur Darvill, who played Rory Williams in the hit BBC show is to play another time traveler by the name of Rip Hunter.

Hunter is described as a witty time traveler and adventurer who nevertheless wields responsibility for all of history.

Darvill joins Ciara Renée, playing the avian heroine Hawkgirl, and former-Superman Brandon Routh, who reprises his role as the Atom from ‘Arrow’. A third main role on the series is yet to be cast.

In the DC comics universe Rip Hunter started out as an ordinary guy who used his Time-Sphere to travel through time. Aided by his friend Jeff Smith, girlfriend Bonnie Baxter, and Bonnie’s kid brother Corky, they had many adventures in time. So it be interesting to see how they work his comic book origins into a crossover television show. Also be interesting to see if his girlfriend and her kid brother get a look in.

Rip Hunter and friends are expected to debut next year.

    Welles’ newspaper from the future references a Crisis and Rip Hunter is prominent in the DCU Crisis story lines. I wonder if we’re getting a CW DCU multi-show crisis event during which Lotz’s Canary is restored, hence her casting.
