Paramount have announced that there are to be two sequels for the new ‘Terminator’ movie and that they will be released in 2017 and 2018.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Terminator 2 has been dated for May 19, 2017 and Terminator 3 for June 29 the following year. The two films will be produced back to back.
The first film in the rebooted franchise, ‘Terminator: Genisys,’ is due to be released on July 1 in the US and June 26 in the UK.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his role of the eponymous machine and starring alongside him are Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Matt Smith and Jai Courtney.
Helming ‘Genisys,’ though not confirmed for the sequels, is Alan Taylor, best known for directing ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and his work on TV shows such as ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘The Sopranos.’
The last Terminator movie was 2008’s Terminator: Salvation starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. It bombed with both fans and critics and was considered a financial failure to boot.
