Supergirl renewed for 2nd season

Fans of Supergirl will fly high with the news of another season's worth of Supergirl's Super Adventures!

Viewers of the fan favorite CBS series Supergirl which stars Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks and Chyler Leigh will be Super happy to hear that the show has been renewed for a second season as was recently announce in Palm Beach, Florida by CBS CEO Les Moonves.

The CBS top executive said, “We have about five new shows on this year. Of those five, I believe all five of them will be renewed.”

The Super show about the Man of Steel’s cousin Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl as played by Melissa Benoist, seems to have been a shoe in for renewal as the show has so many positives such as good social messages for so many different groups of people, great ratings, super cool action and really good stories.

The Super actress herself had this to say about her Super Alter Ego, “She always finds a way to be heroic and good and pure at heart.”

The only questions now on the minds of the shows many fans is just what adventures lay in store for the ‘Girl of Steel’ which is set to air for the second season at the same 8:00 p.m. time slot.

Actually there are a ton of other websites that corroborate this. I’m talking respected sites as well such as Comic Book resources. Add to that is the quote comes directly from Leslie Moonves a higher up at CBS.

The question really is whether it is to be renewed on Network or if it is going to join Star Trek on CBS Access. Despite the low ratings the series does have a fan base. Not a fan of it myself mind you. Feels a bit to like a 1990’s series for me. But as they say each to their own.

Good call CBS. Supergirl is a great show. I paid for the app just to watch that show.

“I believe” is NOT a confirmation.

      It’s not a cancellation either.

I did not write the article, but do have a follow up coming up, which asks whether a renewal of the series is TBC? Given that Moonves did not mention ‘Supergirl’ in his quote. It leaves to much to interpretation.

I’ve been looking around since Tye made this post yesterday and learned that both Variety and CBR posted stories ahead of us claiming that the series had been renewed based on the same quote. My guess is the show probably has been renewed, but I think there will be a twist such as a 13 episode season. The most pragmatic story have found about this was at Futon Critic who said the show has neither been renewed or cancelled as yet, but they are also speculating that the series will probably get a renewal based on a number of things.

Either way. My guess is we’ll not know for sure until the May Sweeps.

I agree that the show will most likely be renewed, I’ve just seen everybody and his brother sharing this same quote as a confirmation. I’ve also seen the rumor floating around that Berlanti would try to bring Supergirl to the CW if CBS backs out. There may be a lot going on behind the scenes that we’re unaware us, so until there is an official “Supergirl is renewed for a second season” from CBS, I’m just holding my breath like everyone else. 🙂

They should totally add in her cousin and have her encounter an alien that they never faced before and have both Clark and Kara try to eliminate him.

      Interesting…

So if they were to say bring Superman into it. Do you think they should give the role to a new actor or maybe have Tom Welling reprise it? Just curious.

You shouldn’t say things that haven’t happened yet . Moonvies has never said the word ‘SUPERGIRL ‘ in any statement, and until he does its just speculation.
