‘Star Wars’ spinoff scribe to adapt ‘Starlight’

Gary Whitta who is one of the writers attached to pen the 'Star Wars' spinoff movies has been selected to do the movie adaptation of Mark Millars 'Starlight' comic book series.

Gary Whitta who is one of the writers attached to pen the ‘Star Wars’ spinoff movies has been selected to do the movie adaptation of Mark Millars ‘Starlight’ comic book series.

Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the  writer is adapting the comic book series for 20th Century Fox.

The Goran Parlov-illustrated Image Comics series is an tribute to classic science fiction properties including Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers.

It centres on Duke McQueen, a young man who is enlisted by an alien world to liberate it from evil. On his return to Earth, no-one believed his wild stories of princesses and evil warlords.

Now an ageing widower estranged from his two sons, McQueen is called upon to be a hero one last time.

X-Men writer Simon Kinberg will produce.

Whitta’s previous writing credits include ‘Book of Eli’ and ‘After Earth.’ He has also written for the Telltale Games ‘Walking Dead’ adventure game series.
